Maria Parenti Runs for Hamilton Village Trustee
Maria Parenti, 41 Madison Street, has accepted nomination for Hamilton Village Trustee from both the Democratic Caucus and by virtue of a petition from the “Our Village” independent party. Voters, therefore, can choose to vote for her at the June 17 Village Election on either of those lines on the ballot. At the Caucus, Parenti said that she would run because she seeks an opportunity to put her endless energy and rich experience in business, volunteer activities, and responsible family life to work for the Village of Hamilton.
Maria Parenti offers a lifetime of managerial and leadership experience. She worked twenty-five years as a purchasing manager with companies such as PFW/Hercules, Nestle Foods, and Cadbury-Schweppes/Mott, managing multimillion dollar departmental budgets. At Cadbury Beverages in Stamford Ct, she was charged with contract negotiations and vendor relationships as well as coordinating six facilities nationwide. She there maintained and managed a $12 million dollar budget. At Nestle Food Corporation she was responsible for procurement of all raw and office materials against the annual budget. Her work required knowledge of specialized computer programs as well as extensive travel.
Maria prepared for such work by studying business at Orange County and Riverside Community Colleges and by being in the National Association of Purchasing Management certificate program, 1985-2002. She also studied in a New York University writing program, 2000-2002. She does freelance writing and has worked as a stringer for the Hamilton-Morrisville Tribune and a contributor to the Mid-York Weekly.
Maria Parenti also is a devoted mother to four successful children (for 24 years as a single parent), and “NaMa” to eight grandchildren. Her daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Joel Caldwell, came to Hamilton in 1997 and are the proud parents of Cristian, Elena, and Ana. After visiting Hamilton numerous times, in 2002 Maria decided to make it her permanent home, living first on Bonney Hill and now in the village.
When she joined the Hamilton Rotary Club, Parenti rose quickly through the ranks, serving not only as President, Assistant District Governor, and co-chair of the Fourth of July parade, but also by initiating new programs and chairing committees. In addition, some will remember Maria from her two years of working part-time for the Cazenovia Jewelry Store in Hamilton Nov. 2005- Feb. 2007. She was a member of the Hamilton Business Alliance in 2007.
Maria was invited to join the Hamilton Club and now is beginning her second two-year term on its Board of Governors. She is an active member of St. Mary’s Church and serves both as religious instructor for the third-grade and a new Eucharistic Minister.
You can meet Maria at the Farmers’ Market some Saturdays, at the Democratic booth just south of the pavilion. Check this website for particular times and dates. Her local family, the Caldwells, invite all villagers to meet her at a reception at their home, the historic Elisha Payne house, 35 Payne St., on Friday June 6th, between 4:30 and 7:00 pm.
